Barfi! is a heartwarming story set in the beautiful hill town of Darjeeling during the 1970s. The story follows Murphy “Barfi” Johnson, a cheerful young man who is deaf and mute. Despite his difficulties, Barfi enjoys life, makes people laugh, and spreads happiness wherever he goes. Barfi falls in love with Shruti, a beautiful and educated girl who comes to Darjeeling. Shruti also loves Barfi, but her family does not accept their relationship. Under pressure from her family, she chooses to marry another man and leaves Barfi behind. Years later, Barfi meets Jhilmil, his childhood friend who is autistic and comes from a wealthy family. Her family keeps her away from society because they are ashamed of her condition. Barfi takes care of Jhilmil and protects her. Over time, they develop a special bond based on trust, care, and understanding. When Jhilmil goes missing, Barfi desperately searches for her and meets Shruti again. Shruti realizes that she still loves Barfi but also understands that Barfi and Jhilmil share a deep connection.
