Manmarziyaan (2018) Hindi

Set in the lively streets of Amritsar, Manmarziyaan is a modern love story about Rumi, a strong-willed young woman caught between passion and stability. Rumi lives with her large, traditional family and secretly loves Vicky, a fun-loving but immature local DJ. Their relationship is full of passion, excitement, arguments, and emotional ups and downs. Although Vicky constantly tells Rumi that he loves her, he is afraid of marriage and the responsibilities that come with it. He also struggles with money and does not feel ready to become an adult. When Rumi's family discovers their relationship, they demand that Vicky come forward with his parents and formally ask for her hand in marriage. Vicky promises Rumi that he will do it, but every time the moment arrives, he loses his courage and runs away. Rumi feels humiliated and heartbroken. After repeated disappointments, she finally decides that she cannot depend on Vicky and agrees to an arranged marriage. She is introduced to Robbie, a successful banker who has returned to Amritsar from London to find a life partner. Robbie is calm, mature, patient, and understanding. He quickly becomes attracted to Rumi's bold and honest personality. He knows that she has recently suffered a heartbreak, but he still chooses to marry her, believing that with time and love, they can build a happy life together. However, Rumi has not truly moved on from Vicky. After realizing that he may have lost her forever, Vicky becomes regretful and desperate to win her back. He repeatedly follows and approaches Rumi, asking her to give their relationship another chance. Rumi becomes confused between her old passion for Vicky and the stable life she has with Robbie. Unable to control her feelings, she secretly begins meeting Vicky again. Their meetings eventually become an affair, even though Rumi is now married to Robbie. Robbie eventually discovers the truth. Instead of reacting with anger or violence, he remains calm and deeply hurt. He confronts Rumi and makes her understand the contradiction between what she expects from others and the choices she has made herself. He even offers her a divorce, giving her the freedom to decide what she truly wants. Robbie's mature and selfless response becomes a turning point for Rumi. For the first time, she is forced to look honestly at her own actions and understand the difference between intense physical attraction and genuine emotional companionship. The story ultimately becomes Rumi's journey of self-discovery. She must face the consequences of her choices, understand what love really means, and finally decide where her heart truly belongs.
